New York City’s Best Spas

Best spa

Known as the city that never sleeps, New York City also has plenty of ways to help you unwind. World-class restaurants and bars, incredible shopping, acclaimed museums, and, of course, spas are all part of what makes this pulsing metropolis so special.

Good Housekeeping editors and experts within the Good Housekeeping Institute have scoured the Big Apple for its best spas that provide effective, relaxing treatments in serene settings. These are the places to get a massage that relieves hip pain, a facial that smoothes fine lines, and other unique experiences that will have you feeling pampered from head to toe.

The 13,000-square-foot wellness complex the Well is “the ultimate escape,” says designer Courtney Kiersznowski, who comes a couple of times a year for its hip-pain alleviating deep-tissue massages and ayurvedic teas. But what really sets it apart, she adds, are its wellness elements—including integrative energy sessions and craniosacral therapy.

A visit to this opulent spa is an immersive experience in itself, with a vast, sweeping bathhouse setting and a lengthy list of treatments that will have you unwinding from head to toe. A facial from therapist Melissa, who is “incredibly gentle on extractions,” is a must-try for those with skin issues.

This beautiful spa inside the legendary Plaza Hotel takes a cue from traditional Asian spas with its zen ambience, including the use of eucalyptus-infused saunas and a water lounge. Plus, all of the services, from a hot stone massage to a black orchid facial, are highly tailored to your specific needs.
