You’ll find Aire Ancient Baths all over the world, but this NYC outpost is one of the best. Enter through a simple storefront and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by a large, candlelit bathhouse with hot and cold thermal tubs inspired by Roman, Greek, and Ottoman traditions. You can bop around each bath at your own pace ($120 for a 60-minute soak), or book a massage (60 minutes for $256).
Located in the fabled Plaza Hotel, this spa has all the trappings of a five star experience. The menu is expansive and includes everything from a traditional Swedish massage to the luxe black orchid facial (the kind of facial you’d probably get in a fancy hotel). It’s possible to go here for just a day, but we recommend staying the night to make it a full-on mini-vacation.
Often voted as one of the city’s best, Spa Castle is a quaint escape in the heart of downtown. It’s a fun spot with zero pretense and an impressive list of treatments. The spa packages are a great way to go and include massages, facials, scrubs, and hydration wraps. It’s also one of the few spas in the city with a membership option, which means you can come back for more treatments and use the facilities all week long.
